About Us

Animal Legal Defense Fund Student Chapters are law student organizations affiliated with the Animal Legal Defense Fund that shares its mission to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. Student chapters, otherwise known as SALDF, are a vital part of the growing animal law movement as forums for education and scholarship exploring the impact the law has on animals. They are in a unique position to be influential advocates for changing the law to better protect animals. Student chapters routinely host speakers, film and tabling events, fundraisers, volunteer days, and more. They actively engage with policy, legislation, and pro bono work. They work to add animal law courses to school curricula and to bring animal law into more traditional areas of law. Student chapter members often clerk for the ALDF and other animal protection organizations. Student chapter members go on to become advocates, attorneys, judges, legislatures, nonprofit leaders, government officials, and educators. If you are a current student interested in animal law and in joining this chapter, please reach out to the student leaders listed below.
